Things you don’t learn in school day

In honor of finals week I have declared today “Stuff you don’t learn in school day.” Things that I have done so far to celebrate this occasion:

  • Went to Lawson to resurrect my once dismal ice skating skills and embarress myself completely.
  • Watched Free Culture
  • Read some of Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson
  • Learned to sew a button on a shirt and performed this operation once successfully
  • Washed the dishes

This evening I will be going out for midnight breakfast. Yet another thing school did not teach me; Pizza can be for breakfast and breakfast for dinner.

Tomorrow I will be selling back all of my textbooks as they obviously are filled with complete lies. LIES!!!!

Here’s to hoping the Hula Intern video’s never surface.

Globalization themed holiday ornament

The entry fee to Nogfest this year was to bring a holiday ornament for the hosts to place on their tree. So for a study break this week I walked over to K-Mart and purchased a lot of arts & crafts related items:

  • 40 Pipe Cleaners of a variety of colors
  • Popsicle sticks of a variety of colors
  • 1 Santa Clause village figurine
  • 9 colors variety of Crayola Glitter Glue
  • 1 225mL Elmer’s Glue

After I came up with an idea I also printed out a small map of the world. In the end, I came up with the following ornament.

The caption reads: “Santa, flattening the world since 280 CE”

Me with the ornament

Nogfest turned out the be a blast and a great way to say by to the people who will be departing as soon as they are done with their finals. On Saturday I played my first game of racquetball in about 4 years, it was very exciting but left little doubt that I would be sore the next morning. In the evening I went with Craig and Katie over to see Rent at some theater in Ostego. I have never seen the play but nonetheless enjoyed the film. However, as Craig mentioned please go see it at a state of the art theater, one speaker audio combined with random stoppage of the film about 20min in was very disturbing.

Today, as with every non-used moment of my life for the past week, I have been studying for finals. I even took flash cards to Katie’s concert and studied during the intermission. As usual the concert was amazing so I guess I missed the boat and should have been a music major.
